We only keep one breed of cattle, the Traditional Hereford.
These majical cattle can be traced back to the 1800's and our one of the finest meat producing cattle in the world.
These are classified by the RBST as at risk due there being less than 500 registered breeding females in the world.
The differeence between the Traditional Hereford and the Hereford seen widely across the world is simply two things
1) You can trace the Traditional Hereford back to the origional population of 1800
2) The Traditional Herefrod is 100% british it contains no imported blood lines.
Easy to calf, these animals are first rate mothers, and the bulls give good sized calves.
The meat is well "marbled" and tastes of years gone bye. Like most rare and Traditional Breeds they are slow maturing. To ensure that the meat is top quality, we allow our to graze naturally with little or no extras, though they are very partial to a parsnip or two.
The Thomiam Herd of Traditional Hereford Cattle, is a delightfull sight as you will see from the following picture of part of our herd in winter. They are very friendly and like the pigs simply love a bit of extra care and attention.
